Jennifer Seeley is a talented artist from Utah. She received her BFA in drawing and painting at Utah State University. Jenn spends her days painting, playing volleyball, and spending time with her children and husband. Jenn’s work is a myriad of acrylic on canvas animal portraits. She says, “I have a deep appreciation for living things and my paintings are a celebration of it where textures and bright color schemes give my work a lively feel”. Jenn have recently started using palette knifes to apply paint because she enjoys the balance of spontaneity and control it brings to her work.
In her newest work, she engages herself with additive and subtractive processes. As per the artist, I apply paint and then scrape it away revealing the unseen layers. I’m using subtle tones to build up to the pops of color. A large part of Jenn’s process is connecting herself with nature. She takes time every day to get outdoors and quietly observe our earth. Jenn has spent a lot of time in the Utah wilderness and it influences her paintings.
