Janet O'Neal is an acclaimed multimedia artist, photographer, and educator, renowned for her vibrant, energetic abstracts and multimedia assemblages. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in Administration of Criminal Justice and a background in art. Since 1986, she has pursued her art full-time.
Janet's artistic journey spans various mediums, including watercolor, printmaking, painting, ceramics, multimedia assemblage, sculpture, photography, and video. Her relentless pursuit of new ideas and emotions drives her to explore new techniques and media. Her extensive experience with painting, texture, and collage has evolved into a unique art form that combines found objects with vivid, multi-dimensional abstracts, deep textures, cast resin, and encaustics.
Her current works feature digital photography and conceptual multimedia installations, with a strong emphasis on photography. Janet's innovative approach has earned her recognition in prestigious competitions such as the Georgia O'Keeffe International Photography Competition, the International Pollux Awards, and as a finalist in the Julia Margaret Cameron Awards.
Her artworks are part of numerous private, corporate, and public collections nationwide. Janet currently resides and creates in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
