Marilyn McEvoy is a contemporary abstract artist from Houston, TX and is a graduate of Indiana University. Marilyn is self-taught artist who now lives in Santa Fe, NM where the exceptional light is an inspiration for her work.
Marilyn started applying paints to canvas after years of working with clay and decided to try a different medium to express her artistic side. Both clay and canvas are mediums that allow her to create dynamic works of art.
With paints, Marilyn was able to create more modern, minimalistic and much sophisticated art on canvas through which she feels that she can express her artistic touch even better. When Marilyn begins painting, her focus is bold colors and dynamic composition. She could start with a charcoal sketch or just apply acrylic paint to canvas to go with the flow and mood of the day. She loves when someone looks at the painting and the composition evokes a memory or the colors just speak to them since, to her, the painting has drawn them in to linger and enjoy what she has created.
Her work is often described as “unique, different and lively.” Marilyn is very good with commissions and worked with numerous clients over the years. Over the years, Marilyn participated and showed her work on various platforms in Colorado, Texas and New Mexico. She says “I believe it is important for a client to always own “one of a kind.” All her work is on gallery wrapped canvas painted to compliment the colors in the composition.
