Santa Fe artist Sally Bartos grew up on the Navajo Reservation in Window Rock, Arizona, where she was immersed in a creative environment. With a father who was a sculptor, carver, and writer, and a mother who painted in oils, art was a natural part of everyday life. Although she studied biology at Northern Arizona University, her passion for painting ultimately led her to pursue a career as a professional artist.

Working primarily in acrylics, Bartos creates vibrant, storybook-like paintings inspired by the landscapes, architecture, and cultural richness of New Mexico. Her distinctive style features bold color, expressive movement, and textured, mosaic-like compositions that blend observation with imagination. Drawing from sketches, photographs, and memory, she creates inviting scenes that celebrate the beauty, whimsy, and enduring spirit of the Southwest.
