Cathy Lubke, a native of Burkett, Texas, has been an active painter since 1979. She currently resides in San Angelo, Texas, with her husband, Norman. They have two children, Kellye and Chris. Cathy holds degrees from Angelo State University, where she majored in English, history, education, and art.
After teaching in public schools at the elementary, secondary, and college levels, Cathy began offering private studio art classes in 1986. She has since taught numerous painting workshops throughout the Southwest.
Much of Cathy’s work captures the luminous light that magically appears in nature. As an observer of the land and animals around her, she is familiar with their natural characteristics and habits. Having painted for nearly 20 years, Cathy enjoys incorporating abstract design elements into her depictions of the Southwest landscape.
Her paintings often reflect small, intimate moments from everyday life, though a few larger pieces showcase the vast grandeur of the Southwest. Cathy has participated in numerous juried shows and exhibitions across the United States and continues to share her love for the rural Southwest through her art.
