Leilani Pinard has the reputation of an "Old Master” artist of the 21st century. Her detailed and translucent technique has created the depth and beauty of the finest art collected all over the United States.  She started painting in 1979 and is completely self-taught. Her desire to create her style was pursued diligently, even with the fact that she is blind in one eye. That having been said, she has the ability to capture the depth and drama that is definitive of her style. You can feel the texture of the cloth, the shine in the faces and the depth in the eyes of all her subjects. She followed her heart to seek out the extraordinary conception of art that is preserved in timeless pieces of art. Her murals are so defining that you enjoy the beauty as if you were entering the landscape.

She followed her heart to the works of the 19th Century French Artists and the Pre-Raphaelites. “I am totally enthralled by their superb mastery of technique, composition, colorations and especially their use of light. I want everything I paint, whether it is a face, nude, piece of fruit or pottery, to look as if it’s lit from within by candlelight. Translucency is my goal in everything I paint”  Award-winning artist, Leilani Pinard felt a connection to oil painting the first time she put oil on canvas. Leilani says “From the time I was a child, I knew I was an artist, I just didn’t know what kind of artist. It wasn’t until I sat in front of a canvas that I knew immediately… I’m an oil painter!”

Leilani has been featured in many One Man Shows and has won numerous Best in Shows and 1st Place Awards. She has judged numerous art shows and has been featured in magazines and newspaper articles. This first mural led to mural work all over the United States for the past 20 years including commissions in restaurants such as Ninfa’s, Manny’s Italian Village and Zentner’s Daughter.  Leilani was ‘Artist in Residence’ for several years at The Ruidoso Store, the largest art gallery in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Her next endeavor was a Commission from the City Secretary for Midland, TX to compose and paint a historical mural for the City of Midland.  Born with the artistic ability to capture the very essence of her subjects in striking life- like detail. Leilani specializes in portraying the translucent youth of children, as well as a woman’s sensual nature in her portraits and nudes.
