Born in 1951 in Fargo, North Dakota, Phil Hulebak moved to New Mexico when he was three. As the years unfolded he began to explore the mountains, rivers, vistas and the multi-cultural society this land of enchantment has to offer.
He attended the University of New Mexico in the early 70’s concentrating his efforts in the fine arts. He has taken workshops in Taos, the Scottsdale Artist School and Casper College in Wyoming. He continues taking workshops from artists of interest.
He found his calling early by painting landscapes. He enjoys the serenity of being on location capturing the moment in plein air. Michael Lynch, Kevin McPherson and Scott Christensen were his most influential teachers. He enjoys working with local colors and values that give a painting accurate validity not often found from photographs.
Phil continues turning over new ideas and finds infinite possibilities that pour out of this beautiful world.
